09 / BEFORE YOU GO

A few things
to know.

Which expedition should I choose?

Classic Antarctica offers 10 days on a Peninsula expedition; Spirit of Antarctica adds another day. Polar Circle Quest is 12 days and aims to cross the Antarctic Circle. Ultimate Antarctic Adventure combines Adventurer with a multi-night Icebird yacht expedition over 20–21 days, depending on departure. The Kingdom of Kings is a 21-day wildlife journey through the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica. All five are Ushuaia round trips.

Where do I join the ship?

These voyages begin and end in Ushuaia, Argentina. Plan to arrive two days before the ship departs, with two nights at Albatros Hotel, subject to availability. For a February 14 sailing, that means arrival on February 12 and hotel nights on February 12 and 13. Flights are additional; we’ll confirm your room, hotel check-in, meeting point and transfers before booking.

Are the Ushuaia activities included?

The national park, Beagle Channel outing and museum are ideas for your free day before embarkation. They are optional and quoted separately, with entry fees, transport and availability confirmed before booking.

What is the Drake Passage like?

Sea conditions vary, from calm water to a rough crossing. The journey is part of the expedition, with time for briefings and talks. The vessel has stabilizers, but motion is still possible. Discuss personal seasickness preparation with your clinician.

Do I need to be very fit?

Landings can involve stepping into Zodiacs and walking over uneven, slippery or snowy ground. Activities have different requirements and are optional. Tell us about your mobility needs before booking so suitability can be assessed; kayaking requires swimming ability and an experience check.

Are camping and kayaking guaranteed?

No. Included means no additional activity charge when the activity is offered, not a guaranteed place or outing. Weather, season, safety and space all matter. Camping has limited places and needs early registration. We’ll confirm what is planned for your specific departure.

Will Polar Circle Quest definitely cross the Circle?

That is the expedition’s aim. Weather and sea ice can prevent the crossing, and the captain and expedition leader may change the route. Wildlife encounters and individual landing sites are also never guaranteed.

How is Ultimate Antarctic Adventure different?

It combines the expedition ship with a multi-night stay aboard Icebird, a six-guest sailing yacht. The yacht segment is part of Ultimate, separate from the optional Icebird day sail offered on some other voyages. An additional medical and physical assessment is required. We’ll confirm the exact duration, yacht accommodation, facilities and suitability before booking.

Can I travel solo?

Superior Single cabins are listed in the vessel materials, alongside shared and twin cabin options. We’ll confirm the available cabin, occupancy rules and any supplement for your specific departure.

How do I book my expedition?

Contact us to arrange your expedition. Starting prices include your voyage and two hotel nights, based on the stated cabin and hotel occupancy. Current availability, optional additions and booking terms will be confirmed before booking. You can contact us to discuss your preferences; a conversation does not reserve a cabin or confirm availability.
